In a gesture of cultural exchange and appreciation, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Magiagi village in Samoa, who bestowed upon him the honorary title of “Tuioataga,” or “king,” during his visit for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
President Bio took to social media to share his appreciation, stating, “I thank the wonderful people of Magiagi village in Samoa for bestowing on me the great honour of the title of Tuioataga, or king of this great village that represented Sierra Leone during this Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.”
The honor, which signifies deep respect and acknowledgment, marked a symbolic moment for Sierra Leone’s presence in Samoa.
President Bio remarked, “I am truly elated to receive this huge honour. We will continue to deepen our ties and strengthen this bond with this piece of Sierra Leone in Samoa.”
The President also extended his gratitude to the village leaders and community, adding, “I am very grateful to the chief of the council, Faatasi Puleiata, and the people of Magiagi village.”
