Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has appointed Josephine Kamara as the new Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
A seasoned Development Communication Expert and Broadcast journalist, Josephine commenced her career at SLBS and has garnered valuable experience working with notable organizations such as VOA News, USAID, and the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).
Josephine Kamara steps into the role, succeeding Joseph Kapuwa, who was appointed in 2018 by President Julius Maada Bio and subsequently endorsed by the Parliament of Sierra Leone.
Kapuwa’s tenure faced intense scrutiny, marked by investigations from both the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the corporation’s board. The investigations primarily focused on the alleged misappropriation of public funds exceeding two billion old Leones during his time in office.
This change in leadership comes amid efforts to address and rectify concerns surrounding the SLBC’s financial management.
