Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has appointed Joseph Kapuwa as the new Chairman of the Independent Media Commission.
This was announced by the Secretary to the President, Julius F. Sandy, PhD. The appointment, in accordance with Section 3(2) of the Independent Media Commission, 2020.
Mr. Kapuwa is urged to initiate contact with the Clerk of Parliament for the necessary arrangements regarding a meeting with the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service of Parliament, where his appointment will be under consideration.
Pending parliamentary approval, additional details, including the Terms and Conditions of his appointment, will be communicated to Mr. Kapuwa.
Joseph is a lawyer and a communications professional who is expected to use his unique experiences to oversee and regulate the media landscape.
He was replaced by Josephine Kamara as the new Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation.
