The Sierra Leone Police has today commenced the demolition of several roadside shops at the Hill Cut Wash Car area, citing obstruction of pedestrian walkways as the primary reason.
According to Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dr. John Martin Senisie, the structures were unlawfully erected and posed safety risks to pedestrians by blocking designated footpaths.
Dr. Senisie explained that the operation forms part of broader efforts to restore pedestrian access, enhance public safety, and improve the general outlook of the area.
He further noted that although the car wash itself was not affected by the demolition, authorities would not hesitate to shut it down if investigations uncover any illegal activities associated with the facility.
The exercise drew the attention of residents and motorists, with a strong police presence deployed to maintain order throughout the operation.
