Freetown, Sierra Leone – Dr. Moinina David Sengeh, Chief Minister of Sierra Leone and lead negotiator for the recently concluded Tripartite Committee, has received an update from the steering committee on the progress of implementing the recommendations from the Tripartite Report.
The 18-member steering committee, which includes representatives from media and civil society organizations (CSOs), held its first meeting on July 29, 2024.
The meeting marked the start of efforts to put into action the recommendations outlined in the Cross-Party Committee on Electoral System and Management Bodies Review Report, commonly referred to as the ‘Tripartite Report.’
Dr. Sengeh stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss strategies for implementing the report’s recommendations.
He highlighted that the terms of reference (TOR) for committee members have been finalized and announced plans to establish a secretariat soon.
The Chief Minister urged the committee members to accelerate their work in anticipation of the official launch of the report’s implementation phase.
