Freetown – Police personnel attached to the Ross Road Harbour Division have arrested a woman, identified as Bintu Joe of Cole Street, Yellow Mosque, Waterloo, for alleged possession of various substances suspected to be drugs at the Peace Market Lorry Park in Freetown.
The arrest was made on Thursday, 24 September 2026, following intelligence-led information received by the police.
According to reports, a search of a blue rubber container, locally known as a Kolema, in the woman’s possession led to the discovery of large quantities of various substances suspected to be drugs. These included different brands labelled Mark 300, 250 and 255, substances suspected to be Tramadol, and quantities of substances suspected to be Kush.
The successful arrest was attributed to previous engagements between the police and community stakeholders at the Peace Market Lorry Park. During these engagements, community members were encouraged to refrain from condoning criminal activities and to promptly report any suspicious behaviour to the police.
The Sierra Leone Police continue to encourage community participation in crime prevention and the maintenance of public safety.
Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
