Koinadugu, Sierra Leone – Officers at the Sawulia Checkpoint have arrested a man in possession of 24 suspected stolen mobile phones and 54 SIM cards.
On Monday, 22 June 2026, Alie Fofanah of Manjoro in Biriwa Chiefdom was detained after security personnel discovered a black bag containing 24 used Android mobile phones of various models, 54 used SIM cards, a black-handled knife, a razor blade, four Android phone ejector pins, and 390 Leones in cash.
Authorities believe the items were stolen from a telecentre in Segbeya, Dalakuru Area, Diang Chiefdom.
The arrest highlights the important role of checkpoints and security personnel in curbing theft and other criminal activities across the region.
Fofanah and the recovered exhibits are currently in police custody at Panlap Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
