The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board have issued a stern warning to beach bars and restaurants at Lumley Beach regarding noise pollution.
Reports indicate that several beach bars and restaurants have transitioned into nightclubs, resulting in disturbances to nearby hotels and other hospitality establishments.
“Playing very loud music that inconveniences your neighbours is in contravention of the beach policy guidelines and the Public Order Act of 1965,” stated Fatmata Mida Hamd-Carew, General Manager of the National Tourist Board in the notice date 21 May 2024.
Effective immediately, all beach bars, nightclubs, and related facilities are required to cease loud music by 2:00 A.M. each night.
Hamd-Carew emphasized, “Failure to comply with this directive will leave the National Tourist Board with no option but to close your facility. You have been warned.”
The enforcement aims to ensure a peaceful environment for all visitors and residents at Lumley Beach, maintaining the area’s appeal as a prime tourist destination.
