The National Commission Authority (NatCA) has reported the disruption of communication services in some parts of the provinces.
In a press release issued today, NatCA noted that on July 14, 2024, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) undertook essential works to clear waterways and prevent climate-related emergencies following excessive rainfall in the Regent community.
The Authority stated that during this disaster mitigation process, the fiber cable connecting Bo, Kenema, and surrounding areas was inadvertently severed. This caused significant disruptions in communication services, affecting both operators and consumers in these regions.
In response to this incident, NatCA, in collaboration with the National Terrestrial Fiber Backbone Company Leonecom and other service providers, coordinated urgent repair efforts. These collaborative efforts have successfully restored normal communication services through a redundant route.
NatCA apologizes to all those affected by the disruption and assures the public that it will continue to work proactively with partners to prevent similar incidents in the future.
