Cultural strategist, musician, and facilitator Kate Krontiris has issued a public re-introduction to her growing online audience, reaffirming her commitment to civic engagement and collaborative leadership in Sierra Leone.
Based in Freetown with her family, Krontiris leads Studio Culture and the Facilitation Leadership Lab, while also co-founding the music collective @telemfreetown in 2021. She currently serves as co-chair of the new Miatta Civic Centre project alongside Mariama Anthony Williams.
Reflecting on recent public discussions surrounding the project, Krontiris noted that the debates go far beyond infrastructure — touching on deeper societal questions about belonging, leadership, and how differences are managed in public life.
She stressed that the Miatta Civic Centre is intended as a space where dialogue, creativity, and civic collaboration can flourish, echoing similar values she helped advance years earlier while supporting the development of Sierra Leone’s national civic education curriculum.
Optimistic about the nation’s future, Krontiris called on Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to shape “The New Miatta” collectively.
Inviting citizens to share their memories and aspirations via an open digital platform, she urged the public not to remain passive observers but to actively contribute to building a society where disagreement does not lead to division. “I’m not going anywhere,” she affirmed. “Let’s build this together.”
