The High Court of Sierra Leone has issued an injunction preventing the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) from proceeding with its Ordinary Congress, originally slated for Saturday, November 30, 2024.
This legal intervention follows a case filed by Tamba G. Gbetuwa, Chairman of the Moyamba District Football Association, who raised concerns over the Congress proceedings. The court’s ruling effectively suspends the event until the case is heard and resolved.
In a press release issued today, the SLFA confirmed its compliance with the court order.
“The SLFA, through its legal representatives, is actively working to comply with the court’s directive and is taking the necessary steps to resolve the matter in court,” the statement read.
Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing for the SLFA, assured stakeholders that the association remains committed to adhering to legal procedures.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that Congress proceeds in alignment with legal requirements. A new date will be announced once the matter is resolved,” Kamara stated.
The SLFA thanked its stakeholders for their patience and understanding during this period, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and due process.
This development has sparked reactions across the football community, as the Ordinary Congress is a crucial event for discussions on the governance and future of football in Sierra Leone.
Further updates on the case and the Congress will be provided as the situation unfolds.
