Pujehun District, Sierra Leone – A five-year-old pupil of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Primary School, identified as Gbessay Kebbie, was tragically found dead in a stream in Taininahun, Pujehun District, days after she went missing.
The child disappeared during a local ceremony reportedly connected to suspected diamond discoveries in the area. Her body was discovered three days later, triggering widespread outrage and grief within the community.
Ten suspected illegal miners have been detained by authorities in connection with the incident.
Reports indicate possible signs of violence on the child’s body, though the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed. Police investigations and forensic examinations are currently underway.
