The Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie has tabled two key regulatory instruments aimed at strengthening country planning and land administration in Sierra Leone.
The instruments are the National Country Planning Regulations, 2026, made pursuant to the National Country Planning Act, 2025 (Act No. 13 of 2025), and the National Land Commission (Land Registration) Regulations, 2026, under the National Land Commission Act, 2022 (Act No. 19 of 2022).
The National Country Planning Regulations, 2026, provide a regulatory framework for implementing the National Country Planning Act, 2025, while the Land Registration Regulations, 2026, are intended to support the implementation of the legal framework governing land registration under the National Land Commission Act, 2022.
The tabling of these regulations marks an important step towards operationalising the country’s land and country planning laws. Their effective implementation is expected to contribute to improved land governance, more structured country planning processes, and strengthened procedures for land registration.
The development also underscores the importance of establishing clear regulatory frameworks to support transparency, accountability and the effective administration of land resources in Sierra Leone.
