Border security personnel at the Jendema Crossing Point in Pujehun District have arrested two men following an intensified surveillance operation on Sunday, 16 November 2025.
The suspects, identified as Alpha Jalloh and Mohamed Jalloh, were intercepted after allegedly attempting to flee when stopped for routine checks.
According to security authorities, the joint team pursued and apprehended the pair, leading to the discovery of a significant quantity of controlled drugs.
A total of 24 boxes and eight cards of Tapentadol tablets, equivalent to 2,480 pills of the 250 mg opioid, were seized during the operation.
Both suspects, along with the confiscated consignment, were transferred to the Mano River Police Division and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
Officials say the successful operation underscores heightened vigilance at the country’s border points amid rising concerns over drug trafficking.
They praised the coordinated efforts of all personnel involved, including the Operational Support Division (OSD) officer attached to the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and NDLEA operatives, for their swift response and commitment to safeguarding Sierra Leone’s borders.
