Bo, Sierra Leone – Thursday, 28th November 2024: Joint security personnel stationed at the Bo Fallah Checkpoint have made a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., Mohamed Kamara, a resident of Njala, Kasama Village, Tikonko Chiefdom in Bo District, was apprehended while attempting to transport two large bundles of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, locally referred to as “jamba.”
The illegal substance, meticulously concealed in white and brown paper packaging inside a large red sack, was uncovered during routine security checks.
Authorities have described the consignment as substantial, indicating its potential for widespread distribution and posing a serious threat to public safety and community well-being.
The suspect, along with the confiscated drugs, has been handed over to the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) for further investigation. Law enforcement officials aim to trace the origin and intended destination of the consignment, as well as identify any networks involved in the trafficking operation.
