The High Court in Freetown has maintained its injunction restricting the All People’s Congress (APC) from carrying out most party functions, while issuing a strong warning that no one should claim to speak or act as part of the party’s executive.
Justice Fisher delivered the ruling on an application filed by Lawyer Sesay. Although the court upheld the existing restraints, it granted limited exceptions allowing the party’s Secretary General and Chairman to perform essential administrative duties. These include signing requests for the payment of workers’ salaries and assisting with internal electoral matters.
The judge made it clear that the broader prohibition remains firmly in place. He cautioned anyone against holding themselves out as members of the APC Executive on radio or in public.
“Anyone can speak for himself, but not for the APC,” Justice Fisher stated. He warned that any violation would attract consequences, including possible contempt of court proceedings.
The matter has been adjourned to October 2026.
The ruling continues a period of judicial oversight over the main opposition party’s leadership, following earlier High Court orders that restrained senior officials from performing full executive roles amid disputes over tenure and internal governance.
