Freetown, October 16, 2023 – In a significant development, the Sierra Leone Premier League Board has revealed that the 2023/24 men’s premier league will have Leone Rock Metal Group, a Chinese-owned company, as its flagship sponsor.
This momentous announcement followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Premier League Board and Leone Rock Metal Group. The deal is valued at US$80,000 (Le 1,930,000) and was finalized at the Radisson Blu hotel in Freetown.
In addition to this sponsorship, Leone Rock Metal Group will also contribute prizes for the Player of the Month and Coach of the Month awards, as well as provide kits for all referees in the Premier League.
With this partnership, the league will be officially named the ‘Leone Rock Premier League.’
During a press briefing, Victor Lewis, Chairman of the PLB, also unveiled the first week’s fixtures for the upcoming league, which is set to kick off on November 3, 2023. The matches scheduled for week one are as follows:
