Former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of veteran All People’s Congress (APC) politician Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, describing his passing as a significant loss to the party, the nation, and all who knew him.
In a condolence message issued following Mansaray’s death, Koroma praised the late politician’s longstanding commitment to the APC and his distinguished record of public service.
He noted that Mansaray dedicated many years to the party, rising through its ranks from the Youth League to become National Chairman, while also serving Sierra Leone in various governmental capacities.
The former president recalled Mansaray’s pivotal role in his political journey, stating that he was among the first party members to identify his leadership potential and support his bid for the APC leadership.
Koroma described him as a loyal and steadfast ally who remained committed during some of the party’s most challenging periods.
“His passing represents an irreparable loss to his family, to the APC, to me personally, and to all those whose lives he touched through his service,” Koroma said.
He extended his deepest condolences to Mansaray’s wife, children, relatives, friends, colleagues, and members of the APC, urging them to find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Reflecting on the late politician’s legacy, Koroma said Mansaray—whom he fondly referred to as “Orminkay”—would be remembered for a life devoted to service, leadership, and dedication to others.
He concluded by offering prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray was widely regarded as one of the APC’s most influential figures, having played key roles in both the party’s internal politics and national governance over several decades. His death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from political leaders, party supporters, and members of the public across Sierra Leone.
