In a significant move to enhance traffic flow and curb lawlessness in Freetown’s Central Business District (CBD), the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, has provided ten brand-new, customized motorbikes to the Sierra Leone Police Traffic Directorate.
The initiative is part of the IGP’s broader strategy to transition the Sierra Leone Police from a traditional force to a service-oriented institution, aimed at promoting peace, development, and a harmonious relationship between the police and the public.
The newly acquired motorbikes are expected to strengthen traffic monitoring and patrolling within the capital city, with a particular focus on addressing the reckless behaviour often displayed by both private and commercial motorbike riders.
Director of Traffic Management and Road Safety, Commissioner Abdul Moijueh, assured the Inspector General that the motorbikes will be used for their intended purpose. He further emphasized the implementation of robust monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective service delivery in line with modern policing standards.
This development underscores the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to improving road safety and maintaining order in the city.
