DV-2025: Diversity Visa Program Results Released Online

The eagerly awaited results of the DV-2025 Diversity Visa program are now accessible online, commencing today Saturday, May 4, 2024.

“Starting tomorrow, May 4, 2024, check your #DV2025 status by entering your confirmation number at dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/. This is the ONLY way to check if you have been selected to participate. If you receive an e-mail, text, call, or letter notification, these are scams,” shared the United States Embassy in Sierra Leone via social media.

The entry window for DV-2025 ran from October 4, 2023, to November 7, 2023.

The Diversity Visa program, colloquially known as the Green Card Lottery, overseen by the US State Department, allocates up to 55,000 green cards via a lottery system to nationalities with historically low immigration rates to the US. The initiative aims to enrich the diversity of the US immigrant populace.

To qualify for participation, applicants must hail from countries with fewer than 50,000 citizens immigrating to the US in the past five years. For DV-2025, nationals from certain countries are disqualified due to exceeding the aforementioned migration threshold. However, Sierra Leoneans are among those eligible to participate.

Aspiring immigrants who submitted entries can ascertain their status among the fortunate winners at https://dvprogram.state.gov. Entrants must possess their confirmation number to verify their winning status.

Successful lottery recipients must navigate an immigrant visa process at a US embassy or consulate, slated to commence in early 2025, before relocating to the US. To be eligible for an immigrant visa (green card), winners must hold a minimum of a high school diploma or possess at least two years of work experience in an occupation requiring two additional years of training or experience.
