Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has announced a significant initiative aimed at enabling local content creators to monetize their work on social media platforms.
In a recent Facebook post, Dr. Sengeh highlighted his efforts to ensure that Sierra Leonean creatives can earn income through social media, both directly and indirectly.
“To Sierra Leonean creatives; I’ve been working to ensure monetization on SM platforms directly and indirectly and #WeWillDeliver,” Dr. Sengeh shared in his post, signaling a promising future for local digital entrepreneurs.
This initiative marks a pivotal moment for Sierra Leone’s creative community, offering new opportunities for income generation and potentially boosting job creation in the country.
The move comes shortly after Kenyan President William Ruto announced a similar development for Kenyan content creators, who can now monetize their videos on Meta platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
President Ruto encouraged Kenyan creatives to capitalize on this opportunity to enhance their income and create job opportunities.
For Sierra Leone, this push towards social media monetization is expected to have a broad impact, not just benefiting individual creators but also stimulating the local economy.
As more young Sierra Leoneans engage in content creation, industries such as marketing, production, and digital advertising are likely to see significant growth, contributing to the country’s overall economic development.
