FREETOWN, 16 September 2025 – The Government of Sierra Leone has announced the immediate suspension of Honourable Justice Allan B. Halloway from the Superior Court of Judicature, pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation into his conduct.
In a letter dated 15 September 2025, Secretary to the President Barba B. Fortune stated that the decision was taken in line with Section 137(6) of the 1991 Constitution and followed the advice of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission (JLSC) at its meeting on 5 September 2025.
“His Excellency the President hereby suspends you as Judge of the Superior Court of Judicature with immediate effect until the outcome of a Disciplinary Tribunal instituted to investigate your conduct,” the letter addressed to Justice Halloway read.
The suspension has been formally communicated to key judicial and government offices, including the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, the Solicitor General, and the Auditor General.
A separate order issued on 16 September 2025 by Chief Justice and JLSC Chairman, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, confirmed that Justice Halloway is interdicted as directed by the President’s letter.
Details of the allegations against Justice Halloway have not yet been made public.
