Freetown, Sierra Leone – President Julius Maada Bio has approved a new slate of judicial appointments to the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Sierra Leone, according to an official statement from the Office of the Secretary to the President.
The appointments reflect the President’s continued commitment to strengthening the judiciary and promoting justice across all levels of the legal system.
In a letter dated with reference number 30425, the Secretary to the President announced that the appointments had received executive approval and were now being communicated officially.
Appointments to the High Court include:
– Magistrate Mark Ngegba
– Magistrate Isata Susan Sellu-Tucker
– Magistrate Josephine Feimata Hinga
– Magistrate Santigie Ibrahim Sorie Bangura
– Magistrate Sahr Elogima Kekura
– Ms. Khalila Diana Kamara
– Mr. Andrew Samuel Curtis Johnson
“These individuals have demonstrated dedication to the rule of law and have shown the competence necessary for higher judicial responsibilities,” the statement read.
To the Court of Appeal, the President has approved the appointments of:
– Hon. Justice Alfred Tommy Ganda
– Hon. Dr. Justice Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara
– Hon. Justice Aiah Simeon Allieu
“These justices bring years of experience and a deep understanding of legal principles to the appellate bench,” said the Secretary to the President.
For the Supreme Court, the nation’s highest judicial body, the President has approved the appointments of:
– Hon. Justice Fatmata Bintu Alhadi
– Dr. Emmanuel A. R. Gaima
“These appointments are a reflection of the President’s trust in the legal acumen and integrity of these jurists,” the Secretary concluded.
The appointments come at a time when the judiciary continues to undergo reforms aimed at improving access to justice and reinforcing judicial independence in Sierra Leone.
