Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has announced that Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara is no longer its leader.
The decision was revealed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yayah Tunis, during an appearance on AYV Television’s “Wake Up Sierra Leone” show.
Tunis cited Section 47 of the APC Constitution as the basis for this decision, though he did not elaborate on the specific provisions of the section.
Dr. Kamara, who ran as the APC’s presidential candidate in the June 2023 election against incumbent President Julius Maada Bio, has been a central figure in the party for many years.
The announcement marks a significant shift within the APC, as Dr. Kamara has been a prominent leader and political figure in Sierra Leone for some time.
Further details on the party’s leadership structure are expected.
