Freetown, Sierra Leone – In a significant press briefing on Tuesday, Presidential spokesperson Alhaji Alpha Khan announced that Samura Kamara, a prominent political figure, has voiced a strong preference for dialogue following the publication of eighty recommendations from the Unity Agreement.
“Samura Kamara has expressed a preference for dialogue above all else,” Khan informed journalists, addressing the media in the capital.
This statement was made in response to a viral video circulating on social media that incorrectly encouraged political supporters to take to the streets in protest. Khan clarified Kamara’s stance, stressing his commitment to justice and adherence to the Unity Agreement Committee’s recommendations.
“He has not ruled out approaching the Supreme Court. He will provide further clarification on this matter,” Khan added, emphasizing their readiness to monitor and respond to developments as they unfold.
Khan also highlighted the structured legal processes for election petitions within the Supreme Court, expressing confidence in the judiciary’s ability to handle such issues.
These remarks mark a critical juncture in Sierra Leone’s political landscape, as stakeholders eagerly anticipate the next steps regarding the Unity Agreement and its broader implications.
The commitment to dialogue and legal processes underscores ongoing efforts towards a peaceful resolution and adherence to constitutional norms within Sierra Leone’s democratic framework.
