The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced that it is proceeding with the sale of a property located at 4A Jones Street, Kissy, Freetown, belonging to Mohamed Sheku Turay, a convicted former banker, following an order from the High Court of Sierra Leone.
On 22nd July 2021, Turay, a former employee of Rokel Commercial Bank, was sentenced by Justice Simeon Allieu to pay a fine of 100 million old leones (Le100,000,000) or serve ten years imprisonment after being convicted on two counts of corruption.
In addition, the court ordered him to pay restitution of 3.92 billion old leones (Le3,920,145,262) —money he misappropriated from the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA)—by 30th September 2021.
Although Turay paid the fine, he failed to comply with the restitution order and later fled the country. Consequently, the ACC sought and secured a High Court order for the sale of his four-story residential and commercial property, which sits on approximately 0.0602 acres.
The building has been valued as a prime asset in the Kissy area.
The ACC has invited interested buyers to submit purchase proposals or bids to its Procurement Unit by 31st January 2025. The property is open for viewing and inspection by potential buyers.
For further inquiries, the public is encouraged to contact the ACC directly.
