The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo has issued a firm response to Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh recent remarks on AYV Television.
In the interview, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh referred to opposition leaders as “unprogressive” for criticizing government policies.
This statement has sparked backlash, with the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, describing the remark as “reckless and irresponsible.”
Hon. Kargbo emphasized that good leadership requires the ability to handle criticism constructively. “When you receive constructive feedback or criticism, listen carefully and respectfully. Don’t interrupt, argue, or justify yourself. Try to understand the perspective and intention of the giver, and ask questions if you need clarification,” he stated.
Highlighting the previous administration’s record, Hon. Kargbo pointed out that inflation never reached 54% during their tenure, the cost of rice remained relatively stable, and salaries were paid before Christmas. He also noted that the minimum wage allowed citizens to afford basic necessities, such as three bags of rice.
Addressing Dr. Sengeh directly, Hon. Kargbo advised the Chief Minister to review parliamentary hansards, which he said contain numerous alternative policies proposed by the opposition. “The Chief Minister doesn’t need to look too far for alternative policies from the opposition,” he added.

There chief minister, don’t know what he is saying, the man is speaking to impressed the president, and not the people. Chief try to satisfy the people first, you betrayed and failed us. You think that, you can come again. Unbelievable and it can never be true.
My friend I am not sure you really understand what the chief Minister meant, even what Hon. Abdul stated about the cost of rice is untrue. He mentioned stable cost of rice in their regime, that is even more shameful, Hon. sir, before making that kind of statement did you consider the cost of a bag of rice before your party too power in 2007 and how much was it before you leave power? Common! Let’s set the record straight here! So to me Hon. makes no sense to me with all due respect sir. He also mentioned that salaries by then used to afford 3 bags of rice. wait! Hon. Tell me you are kidding me. 😀😀
