Samura Kamara addresses elected APC MPs amid ongoing parliamentary absence

On Thursday, 3rd August 2023, the leader and presidential candidate of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, Dr. Samura Kamara, engaged in a productive interaction with elected APC members of Parliament in Makeni city, Bombali District.

During the meeting, Dr. Kamara expressed heartfelt thanks to the APC elected MPs for steadfastly supporting the party’s decision to boycott all levels of governance, including Parliament. The boycott was initiated in response to the controversial announcement of the June 24th general election results by the Elections Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).

In his address, Dr. Samura Kamara emphasized the party’s commitment to restoring democracy, rule of law, transparency, accountability, social justice, and constitutionality in Sierra Leone.

He urged the elected MPs to trust the process and stand united in pursuit of the party’s just cause.

“We have to believe in the party’s decision and we must therefore trust the process. We are fighting a good but just cause in the interest of the majority of the people of Sierra Leone so as to restore democracy, rule of law, transparency and accountability, social justice and constitutionality,” Kamara stressed.

Meanwhile, today marks the State Opening of the 6th Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone. President Julius Maada Bio outlined his plans and vision for the nation during the session.

However, notable absences among the Members of Parliament representing the main opposition APC party are observed, except for Mohamed Bangura, who defied his party’s stance.

The APC Parliamentarians’ absence is a direct consequence of the party’s decision to boycott government proceedings in protest against the election results. Disputes with the ECSL over the transparency and accuracy of the results following the June multi-tier elections had caused tensions within the APC party.

The elders of the party publicly announced their intention to continue the boycott until their demands were met, including the release of election results by polling centers.

This marks the third consecutive parliamentary session that the APC MPs have chosen to boycott since the June 24 multi-tier elections. As the Parliament commences its sessions for the Second Republic, the situation remains tense as the opposition party stands firm in its demands.

Why always refer to the elections as controversial announcement? This is not fear to this nation.

May the truth reign supreme in Sierra.Leone.The war years brought sufferimgs a lot of people were killed and some god fearing people and the western stood by our side with help and support financialy.and jenuinly to make things work but when you have a terrorist inthe country who feels that he has the power to break the country apart in that situation we have no choice but continue to fight for the betterment of sierra leone all those fighting to distroy.sierra leone we know they are not true sierra leoneans they are just thieves who can do what everit takes them to rip off sierra leone and leave our country in dissaray and may god almighty distroy them and their family yet unborn.sierra leone is now 62 years yet still we cant do anything in sierra leone
Those responsible to bring the PR system ought to know that we are not in a war and we are struggling in sierra leone and it should not be like this.our late elders strived very hard to restor our democracy in sierra leone but all had been bastadiesed for no reason just for their own selfish gains.taking out the death penalty so that you can continue to kill and even brag about it should not even.be allowed and yet you stole the rights ofnthe people shamelessly.we cant go on like this in sierra leone.

It’s commendable to see Dr. Samura Kamara and the APC MPs standing firm in their commitment to democracy and justice. Their decision to boycott governance reflects a strong stance against perceived electoral injustices. The emphasis on transparency and accountability is crucial for the future of Sierra Leone. However, the absence of most APC MPs raises questions about the long-term impact of this strategy. How will this boycott influence the political landscape and the trust of the people in the electoral process? Given the growing economic instability due to the events in the Middle East, many businesses are looking for guaranteed fast and secure payment solutions. Recently, I came across LiberSave (LS) — they promise instant bank transfers with no chargebacks or card verification. It says integration takes 5 minutes and is already being tested in Israel and the UAE. Has anyone actually checked how this works in crisis conditions?
