19 years old boy identified as Umaro Daboh has stabbed to death with knife his 8 years old cousin Fatmata Mansaray of Number 11 Korgbende Street in Koidu City, Gbense Chiefdom Kono.
According to the accused step father Mohamed Daboh of the same address, informed the police at the Tankoro police Divisional Headquarters that at around 5:30 am local time on Thursday 23rd November 2023, his step son Umaro Daboh stabbed his cousin fatmata with knife.
He said that the deceased Fatmata Mansaray in question was sleeping in the morning hours when her cousin the perpetrator Umaro Daboh stabbed her on her left side of her chest. After doing the act he went to mosque and joined congregation Fajr prayers in the nearby mosque in the community.
“We both went to mosque and only few minutes later my wife told me that Umaro Daboh has stabbed Fatmata Mansaray while she was sleeping. I immediately rushed to the house and we took her to the Koidu Government Hospital and she was later pronounced death”, he said.
He disclosed that the perpetrator Umaro Daboh is a notorious drug addict and misbehaving badly whenever he could not afford to buy his drugs.
Mariama Dabor, a 12 years old girl also a cousin to both of them, explained that she was at home that with her mother Umu Mansaray when the suspect came home from the mosque with his step father.
She noted that Umaro Daboh requested to use the toilet, he went inside the main parlour of the house in search of a kettle. She added that the suspect was there when Umu Mansaray was sleeping outside instructing her to collect money in the bedroom for the perpetrator Umaro Daboh not to take.
Mariama Daboh narrated that she noticed movement from the parlour to the bedroom where the deceased Fatmata Mansaray was sleeping.
‘I rushed into the room and I later discovered Fatmata Mansaray in her cool blood and struggling for her life. I immediately told their mother Umu Mansaray and she later reported the incident to her husband” she noted.
The suspect Umaro Deboh is in Police custody at the Tankoro police Divisional Headquarters helping them with further
investigations. As it stands now it is not clear why he decided to involved in such state crime.
Meanwhile, the deceased in question had been taken to the Koidu Government Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
According to the Komba Sorie Media Team of Tankoro police Divisional Headquarters, pointed out that the investigations are on going and more details of the ugly incident would unfold as investigation continues.
