Freetown, 6th November, 2026 — Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has announced that training for shortlisted Census Field Staff will commence on Monday, 9th November, 2026.
In an important notice issued on Thursday, Stats SL said all individuals who have received an official SMS from the institution should prepare to travel to their respective training locations as indicated in the SMS.
The agency advised shortlisted applicants to take note of their designated training centres and make necessary preparations to be present as scheduled.
Stats SL said further information and updates will be communicated through its official platforms.
The announcement comes as the country prepares for the 2026 Decennial Population and Housing Census, scheduled with Census Night on 1st December, 2026, and the start of counting on 2nd December, 2026.
The census, being held under the theme “Census 2026: Leh Den Kont You Ooh!”, will provide credible data for national development planning.
This will be Sierra Leone’s first digital census, with field staff expected to use tablets for data collection. The census was initially due in 2025 but was rescheduled to December 2026 to allow for adequate preparation and resource mobilisation.
Stats SL has urged the public to rely only on official information from its verified social media handles @statssl and website http://www.statistics.sl to avoid misinformation.
