Freetown, Sierra Leone – Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has announced that she has received her personal Waste Collection ID and payment details, as the Freetown City Council (FCC) intensifies efforts to improve waste management across the capital under the #DortiMusGo campaign.
In a statement posted on social media, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr expressed excitement about the development and called on residents to register with approved waste collectors.
“Dear Freetonians, I am so excited as I have just received my Waste Collection ID and payment details for my waste collection services through Smart City Services!” the Mayor wrote.
According to the statement, FCC, in partnership with approved service providers, has successfully registered over 22,300 customers, including households, businesses, and institutions, across all eight waste collection blocks in the past six months. Each registered property has been assigned a unique Waste Collection ID.
The Council recently concluded two weeks of intensive community engagement and plans to continue outreach activities throughout the coming week to ensure residents are well-informed and onboarded.
As part of preparations ahead of the soft enforcement of the 2024 Sanitation Bye-Laws, Waste Collection IDs are now being distributed via WhatsApp through the digital service provider, Smart City Services. Residents in Block 6 will use the Dorti Box app instead.

– Dial 715123# or download the Smart City app on Android
– Enter your Waste Collection ID
– Complete payment
Once payment is made, approved service providers will collect waste directly from doorsteps.
Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized the importance of collective action, stating: “Kindly register with an approved waste collector and make payment for your waste to be collected as we work together towards a cleaner and healthier Freetown.”
