Freetown, Sierra Leone – May 12, 2026 — Kate Krontiris Sengeh, wife of Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has officially been granted Sierra Leonean citizenship, a milestone warmly welcomed by citizens and officials across the country.
Mrs. Krontiris Sengeh took the Oath of Allegiance in a formal ceremony, formalizing her deep personal and professional ties to the nation. The development has been hailed by many as a powerful symbol of national unity, inclusion, and cross-cultural partnership.
Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, appointed Chief Minister in July 2023 by President Julius Maada Bio, is a prominent Sierra Leonean innovator, former Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, and the country’s first Chief Innovation Officer.
The couple, who met over a decade ago and have collaborated publicly (including a 2015 TEDx talk on innovation and inspiration), resides in Freetown with their daughters, Nina and Pax.
Kate Krontiris brings a rich background as an ethnographer, strategist, and principal of Studio Culture. She has actively contributed to Sierra Leonean society, notably serving as co-chair of the Miatta Civic Centre initiative aimed at fostering civic engagement and cultural reorientation.
