In a significant development following the recent thwarted subversion attempt, Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, William Fayia Sellu, has affirmed that the ongoing arrests have been meticulously based on substantial evidence.
He disclosed that the apprehended individuals include a total of 17 suspects, comprising 8 middle-level officers, 6 non-commissioned officers, 2 police officers, 1 retired police superintendent, and 2 civilians.
IGP Sellu further disclosed that several other people suspected of involvement in the alleged plot were on the run and that the police were pursuing them.
He said the SLP was working with its neighbours and other international partners, through the International Police Organization (Interpol) to secure the arrest of those at large. He also said that they have beefed up security at the country’s borders with its neighbours.
“No matter where you are, as long as that country is part of Interpol, we will get you,” Sellu said.
Addressing concerns related to a mysterious helicopter landing, I.G. William Fayia Sellu assures the public that fears are unfounded and there is no cause for alarm.
He conveyed this message during a press conference held today at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Notably, this press conference marks the inaugural major event organized by the Ministry.
Amidst heightened tensions, Sierra Leoneans are urged to remain vigilant and trust in law enforcement agencies as they work diligently to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
Hmm oh Salone! Make God sorry for we.
