Freetown, Sierra Leone — Intending Hajj pilgrims from Sierra Leone attended an orientation session focused on the spiritual, physical, and medical preparations required for the 2026 pilgrimage.
Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who oversees the Presidential Hajj Task Force, commended the participants and outlined government efforts to improve the Hajj process.
He noted that since 2018, authorities have worked to enhance management, broaden access, and address previous difficulties faced by pilgrims.
“We want more Sierra Leoneans to have the opportunity to perform Hajj,” Dr. Jalloh said.
He urged the pilgrims to maintain discipline and unity during the journey, stressing that “you must stay united and adhere to all the directions that will be given to you.”
He reminded them that in the Holy Land, all pilgrims are equal.
The orientation is part of final preparations for approximately 800 Sierra Leonean pilgrims expected to travel for the 2026 Hajj. Officials have arranged logistics including accommodation and transportation, with departures planned for mid-May.
The Vice President’s comments come as the government continues its push to make the pilgrimage more accessible while encouraging pilgrims to observe rules and conduct themselves appropriately throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
