Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has called on Sierra Leoneans to take bold ownership of the nation’s future, urging citizens to embrace a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to national development.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Salone Day National Symposium, held in commemoration of Sierra Leone’s 64th Independence anniversary, Dr. Jalloh delivered a stirring address that underscored the importance of collective responsibility and unity in shaping the country’s path forward.
“Independence is not a destination—it is a journey,” he said. “It may be imperfect, but it is essential if we are to build a future where the dreams of our forebears and those of generations yet to come can converge.”
The Vice President emphasized the need for innovation in governance, national cohesion, and a reinvigorated spirit of self-determination. He challenged Sierra Leoneans to recognize their role not just as beneficiaries of independence, but as stewards of the country’s ongoing transformation.
Highlighting the significance of the national celebration, Dr. Jalloh noted, “The value of commemorating Independence Day lies in its power to remind us of the responsibilities we have inherited, those we bear now, and those that await us.”
Reaffirming the enduring national motto—One Country, One People, One Destiny—he urged citizens to embrace the duties of citizenship, leadership, and service with a sense of urgency and resolve.
