A 50-man delegation from Morocco is set to visit Sierra Leone in December where they will engage directly with local MDAs and business leaders to facilitate discussions and explore investment opportunities in the country.
The event set for 4 to 6 December 2024, organized under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, will bring Moroccan government officials, business leaders, and industry representatives together with local Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to explore multi-sectoral investment opportunities in Sierra Leone.
The announcement came during Sierra Leone’s participation in the Economic Promotion Week organized by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in Rabat, Casablanca, and Dakhla. Sierra Leone’s thirteen-member delegation, led by Mr. Tamba E. Juana, Deputy Director General (Policy) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, engaged Moroccan counterparts to advance trade, investment, and diplomatic relations.
“The engagement marks a new chapter in Sierra Leone-Morocco relations,” Juana stated, highlighting the week-long event’s focus on creating lasting partnerships and promoting investment that supports knowledge transfer and capacity building within Sierra Leone.
The forthcoming delegation to Sierra Leone is being organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) as part of the African Forum for Investment. The event is expected to include intensive dialogues between Sierra Leone’s MDAs and private sector representatives to attract Moroccan investment in sectors ranging from mining, agriculture, and energy to tourism, infrastructure, and security.
The foundation for the December delegation was set earlier this year when the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Rabat hosted a group of Moroccan investors who met with key stakeholders in Freetown.
The discussions explored multiple avenues for investment, with Moroccan investors signaling a strong commitment to collaborating with Sierra Leone on high-impact projects.
In a joint effort to further consolidate these investment interests, AMCI has announced an upcoming African Investment Forum and African Executive Meeting in Rabat, aimed at building on these established connections and expanding collaboration with other African countries.
