In a significant diplomatic visit, the US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryant D. Hunt and his team recently paid a visit to the charred remains of the APC District office in Bo.
During their visit, they engaged in fruitful discussions with a diverse group of regional and district executives, as well as other key stakeholders.
The Bo District Chairman, Mr. Amidu Keita, extended a warm welcome to the Ambassador and his delegation. The Regional Secretary, Honourable Legacy Sankoh, presented a comprehensive catalog of issues that had affected party supporters both before, during, and after the recent elections. Notably, other dedicated members who made significant contributions to the discussion included Allie Katisco Sesay, Cecilia Ngobeh, Mr. Mohamed Jabbie, and Mr. Kabba.
In response, the Ambassador Bryant expressed his satisfaction at meeting with the team, highlighting the importance of obtaining firsthand information about the events surrounding the elections and the sentiments of the party members following the recent dialogue.
He conveyed a commitment to sourcing funds to support the Peace Commission, enabling the establishment of staff in all districts to engage various groups. This initiative aims to work towards preventing future incidents of unrest and violence during elections.
Furthermore, the Ambassador assured that those whose properties were destroyed during the unfortunate events would receive support to relocate to their respective communities.
The visit also included a tour of the burnt party office, offering a stark reminder of the challenges faced and the work ahead to restore and maintain peace and stability in the region.
