On Tuesday 26th September 2023, the Government of the Republic of Uganda through the government of the Republic of Sierra Leone under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation officially opened Uganda Consulate in the Republic of Sierra Leone, as Tuesday 26th September 2023, the official oath-taking and swearing Ceremony of Consular Deepak Bhurahi to Sierra Leone.
In his opening statement the Chairman of the ceremony Commissioner of NATCOM, Mr Robert Kondema Kargbo welcomes the Uganda delegation, the Uganda High Commissioner to Sierra Leone based in Nigeria Ambassador Nelson Ocheger and the Newly appointed Consular to Sierra Leone Mr. Deepak Bhurahi, for establishing a Consulate in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Commissioner Robert Kondema went on and said today is a historic day for Sierra Leoneans and Ugandans, as today marks the oath-taking and Swearing Ceremony of the Uganda Consular Mr. Deepark Bhurahi and the official opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Uganda in Freetown Sierra Leone.
Mr Robert Kondema reiterated that Sierra Leone and Uganda have enjoyed a bilateral relationship for far too long, and opening a consulate here in Freetown will strengthen and cordially foster the economy and bilateral relationship that will boost the socio-economic development between the two sister countries in Africa.
In his opening Statement, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Deepak Bhurahi expressed his gratitude to the government of Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the people of Sierra Leone for the warm welcome and hospitality.
The consular Mr. Deepak Bhurahi went and said, I warmly welcome you all to this important occasion to mark the official opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Uganda in the Republic of Sierra Leone, which will strengthen the relationship with both countries as Uganda is a Visa country for sierra Leonean and Ugandans.
This meeting is a testament to the commitment of the two governments to Maximize the good relations existing between them to work towards the betterment of the living conditions of their respective Citizens. Your Excellency, Ladies and gentlemen, may I use this opportunity to
thank the Government of the Republic of Uganda led by H.E General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone, led by His Excellency Dr Brig. Julius Maada Bio for proposing and approving my appointment respectively, So I can contribute to the Strengthening of the relationship between the two countries.
On a special note, I extend gratitude to His Excellency, Ambassador, Nelson Ocherger for facilitating and Coordinating the efforts that made it possible for us to gather here this afternoon.
Your Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, while taking office as Honorary Consul, I pledge to promote the economic and Commercial relationship between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Republic of Uganda.
