In a significant operation, police at the Kenewa Checkpoint along the Kailahun-Pendembu Highway apprehended two individuals on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, for alleged involvement in human trafficking.
The suspects, Salaimatu Kargbo, residing at No. 2 Kabba Street, Rokupa, Freetown, and Ibrahim Kargbo, from No. 14 Vandi Street, Rokupa, Freetown, were found to be traveling with sixteen individuals—primarily women and children—ranging in age from three to twenty-six, en route to Mali.
All sixteen victims originated from Freetown, and the case is currently under investigation by the Family Support Unit at the Kailahun Police Station.
