Freetown, Sierra Leone – eputy Inspector General (DIG) Aiah Edward Samadia has officially retired from the Sierra Leone Police, effective today, February 5, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
Appointed by the Police Council on July 13, 2024, DIG Samadia assumed the role following the untimely passing of his predecessor, DIG Kaillie, who succumbed to illness shortly after his appointment.
Notably, DIG Samadia’s retirement marks the first instance of a Deputy Inspector General departing the force through standard retirement procedures; all previous holders of the position were either dismissed or removed from office.
Throughout his tenure, DIG Samadia has been recognized for his dedication to public service and his commitment to upholding the law.is leadership has been instrumental in guiding the police force through various challenges, and his contributions have left a lasting impact on the institution.
The Sierra Leone Police will soon announce the appointment of a new Deputy Inspector General to fill the vacancy left by DIG Samadia’s retirement.he incoming DIG will be tasked with continuing the efforts to maintain public safety and order across the nation.
