SLFA Sacked Mohamed Kallon as Leone Stars Head Coach
Freetown, Sierra Leone – Thursday, April 2, 2026 – The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially terminated the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Kallon as Head Coach of the Sierra Leone National Men’s Team, popularly known as the Leone Stars.
In a press release issued today, the SLFA stated that the decision was made pursuant to a resolution duly adopted by its Executive Committee. The termination takes immediate effect.
“The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) hereby informs the public that… the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Kallon as Head Coach of the Sierra Leone National Men’s Team, Leone Stars, has been terminated with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The association explained that the move followed “due deliberation and a considered assessment of the technical, administrative, and strategic imperatives of the national team.”
The Executive Committee reportedly concluded that a change in leadership was necessary in the best interests of both the SLFA and the development of football in Sierra Leone.
As a result, Mr. Kallon ceases to hold, act, or be recognized in the capacity of Head Coach from today’s date, and all consequential administrative measures will be undertaken accordingly.
The SLFA acknowledged Mohamed Kallon’s service and contributions during his tenure and extended its best wishes for his future endeavours.
Mohamed Kallon, a former professional footballer and one of Sierra Leone’s most iconic players, had been appointed head coach of the Leone Stars in recent years. His playing career included notable stints with clubs in Italy’s Serie A, such as Inter Milan, and he remains a revered figure in Sierra Leonean football.
The decision to part ways comes at a critical time for the national team as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures and qualifiers.
