Freetown — The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is grappling with a troubling security breach at its headquarters, just days after newly elected President Babadi Kamara and his executive team met with the Transition Committee.
According to information from the SLFA Secretariat, the association’s finance department was targeted in what appears to be a calculated break-in. While all external doors to the SLFA building reportedly remained undamaged, the door to the finance department’s document store was found forcibly opened.
Sources say several important financial documents were stolen in the incident. The theft has raised concerns about internal security and the safeguarding of sensitive records during the ongoing leadership transition.
No suspects have been named, and it remains unclear whether the stolen materials were taken for financial gain, to obstruct audits, or for other purposes.
SLFA has not yet issued an official statement, but insiders say the matter is being treated with urgency.
The incident comes at a delicate time for the association, as Kamara’s new administration works to stabilize operations and build transparency in the wake of the leadership change. An investigation is expected to be launched promptly.
