A 20-year-old Sierra Leonean woman, Facia Karifa, has been repatriated from Liberia by the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, led by Liberia’s Labour Minister, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah.
The repatriation, conducted in accordance with local and international protocols on Trafficking-In-Person (TIP), took place at the Labour Ministry compound in Monrovia.
The exercise followed a recent visit by U.S. Ambassador Mark Toner, who showed interest in Liberia’s handling of human trafficking cases.
During the event, Minister Kruah announced that the perpetrator involved in Karifa’s trafficking had been tried, found guilty, and is serving his sentence. He also reiterated Liberia’s commitment to fully comply with TIP protocols.
Mohammed A.S. Wai, the Community Awareness Officer at the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Monrovia, praised Minister Kruah for his dedication to fighting human trafficking.
Karifa expressed gratitude for the care she received in Liberia and her joy at being reunited with her family.
