In light of the recent declaration regarding the surge in fuel prices, with petrol, diesel, and kerosene costs rising from NLe25.00 to NLe30.00 per litre, the Sierra Leonean public has been officially notified about a significant development in the realm of transportation.
The Ministry of Transport and Aviation, in conjunction with the Motor Drivers Union and other prominent stakeholders from the Transport Sector, have collectively formulated a comprehensive plan for adjusting public transportation fares.
Commencing on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, these meticulously calculated adjustments will take effect across various domains of transportation services. These alterations are not confined to the urban landscape of Freetown; they extend to the expansive network of provincial and across-border routes as well.
Emphasizing the gravity of this transition, it is imperative to highlight the Sierra Leonean government’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the recently established fare rates. Deviations from the stipulated fares will not be taken lightly, as the government is poised to enact the full extent of Sierra Leonean legal measures to ensure compliance.
