On Sunday, 28th September 2025, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), in a commendable partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board (NTB), embarked on a significant cleaning initiative at the iconic Lumley Beach.
This vital undertaking was instigated by the escalating challenges related to waste management at one of Sierra Leone’s most cherished tourism and recreational havens.
This remarkable initiative saw the mobilization of over 1,000 personnel from both the RSLAF and SLP, highlighting their unwavering commitment not only to their security responsibilities but also to the promotion of national development and the preservation of the country’s invaluable natural resources.
The Honorable Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs expressed heartfelt gratitude for the proactive engagement of the security sector.
The Minister emphasized the indispensable connection between tourism development and a pristine, sustainable environment, asserting that such inter-agency collaboration is crucial for safeguarding Sierra Leone’s natural heritage.
Madam Fatmata Mida Care, General Manager of the National Tourist Board, extended her thanks to the security sector for their timely and impactful intervention.
