Freetown, March 12, 2025 – Two sailors working with Sea Coach Express, Samuel Benjamin Moiba and **llAlfred Abdul Karim Koroma, have been remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Center after being accused of stealing a passenger’s belongings worth $5,200.
The duo appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Wednesday, facing two charges: conspiracy to commit a felony and larceny, in violation of Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to police investigations, the alleged incident occurred on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Sea Coach Express, Aberdeen, Freetown. Moiba and Koroma, along with unknown accomplices, are accused of stealing a black suitcase valued at $150, a grey Dell laptop, a black Samsung A23 mobile phone, and other valuable items belonging to Dr. Sheriff Emil Whites. The stolen items were reportedly in the custody of Sea Coach Express at the time of the incident.
During the court session, the charges were read to the accused, but no plea was taken. Prosecuting officer Inspector Kadie Taylor requested an adjournment to summon witnesses, a request that was granted by Magistrate Kekura.
The accused have been remanded in prison as the case is set to continue on a later date.
