Monrovia, Liberia – In a special Cabinet Meeting on November 22, 2023, President George Manneh Weah addressed crucial national matters, highlighting his administration’s accomplishments and emphasizing the importance of a seamless transition of power to the incoming administration.
President Weah commended his administration’s role in establishing an “unprecedented democratic roadmap” not only for Liberia and Africa but for the global community.
Acknowledging the international acclaim for the recently conducted free, fair, and transparent elections, he expressed gratitude to ministers, deputy ministers, and other officials for their contributions.
As the electoral process concluded, President Weah underscored the need for officials to shift focus to the transition process.
He issued Executive Order #123, establishing a Joint Presidential Transition Team (JPTT) co-chaired by the outgoing and incoming presidents. All government entities were instructed to initiate the transition process within their institutions, preparing comprehensive Turnover Notes in consultation with legal teams for accuracy.
President Weah designated the Minister of Foreign Affairs to lead the JPTT and mandated General Services Director Mary Broh to oversee tracking government assets during the transition.
Emphasizing the time-sensitive nature of the transition, he urged officials and institutions to prioritize and fully cooperate with the process.
Expressing gratitude for the unwavering support of the cabinet, President Weah highlighted the challenges faced during his tenure but took pride in serving the Liberian people.
He concluded by emphasizing the paramount interest of the people and expressed confidence that the new administration would build upon their accomplishments for a better Liberia.
