The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, recently sat down with the Voice of America to discuss President Julius Maada Bio’s re-election and his dedication to fostering national unity in Sierra Leone.
During the interview, Mr. Bah highlighted President Bio’s commitment to peace and development, which has been evident even before his re-election.
He emphasized that the President has consistently called for national cohesion, recognizing its significance in advancing the country’s progress.
One noteworthy action taken by President Bio is the establishment of an Elections Review Committee. Chaired by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the committee’s primary objective is to review all aspects of the electoral process and propose recommendations to enhance future electioneering processes. It will comprise members from civil society and development partners, ensuring a comprehensive and transparent assessment.
Minister Bah addressed concerns about disagreements surrounding constitutionally laid down procedures.
He stated that President Bio remains committed to engaging with the opposition while encouraging all parties to act with political maturity.
The minister asserted that President firmly believes that peace, democracy, and stability are essential pillars for Sierra Leone’s prosperity, and that collaborative efforts are crucial to achieving the nation’s development aspirations.
