Freetown, Sierra Leone – President Julius Maada Bio has called for an emergency parliamentary session scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
This comes as per Section 86, Subsection 1 of the 1991 Constitution, which grants the president authority to convene Parliament during recess if necessary.
The sixth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone is currently on a two-month recess, set to conclude on October 31, 2024. Despite the recess, Members of Parliament have been summoned to address urgent matters, including a pre-legislative session for a significant bill titled “The Right Act.”
The emergency sitting is expected to focus on pressing national issues, and all parliamentarians have been urged to attend.
This development highlights the president’s ongoing efforts to address legislative priorities ahead of Parliament’s formal return.
This is just a waste of resources I thought the president is going to do two things for us
(1) To bring back our death penalty
(2) To make sure Ernest Koroma come back and stand his trial justice must prevail
