In a live address today from the Presidential Lodge in Freetown, President Julius Maada Bio reassured the nation after an attempted security breach at the Wilberforce Military Barracks.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, saw unidentified assailants launching an attack on the military armoury.
President Bio confirmed that swift action by the Security Forces successfully repelled the attackers, restoring calm in the aftermath.
In response to ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, a nationwide curfew has been imposed, urging citizens to stay indoors for their safety.
Emphasizing the paramount importance of maintaining peace and security, President Bio vowed to defend Sierra Leone against any threats to its stability.
He concluded his address by reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding democracy and calling for unity among citizens in this collective responsibility.
As the nation remains vigilant, President Bio’s resounding proclamation echoed, “Long Live The Republic of Sierra Leone.”
